When signing up Carter to play baseball, Kimball BEGGED to play too! Kathryn then got on board and insisted she got to play too! SOOO our lives have been consumed with baseball. Kathryn plays on Mondays and Wednesdays, Carter plays on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and Kimball plays on Saturdays! It has definetly put our lives into fast forward.
Kathryn has been pretty cute playing TBall. She is pretty flighty about it and thinks chanting "Let's Go Glory, Let's Go!" in the dugout is what it's all about! She is left handed - which has been fun to see how she figures it out. When her team is outfield, her coach always tells them to be "Down and Ready." However, no matter how "ready" she is she nevers sees any action - unless she's playing pitcher or 1st base. The little girls are so funny - they just watch the ball and wait until their coach tells them to run after it! They have finally figured out where to run and that they need to throw the ball the 1st base. We need to work with Kathryn and her throwing but her focus for the sport might not be long term. She does sure love to play baseball with her brothers and feel like she's part of "the know."
Carter, on the other hand, can't get enough baseball! He continues to be a natural at anything related to sports. Grandma and Grandpa got him so batting gloves and Grandpa has been practicing with him catching pop flys and throwing the ball. Carter says it hurts when he catches Grandpa's thrown ball. (I REMEMBER thinking the same thing about my dad's throw!) He does pretty good on the outfield and actually gets so frustrated if the other boys aren't doing their job. He has often been critiqued (both by us and the coach) to stay put in your position and let the other kids take care of their area. This year he is playing coach pitch. His coach pitches overhand, which is a little more challenging to hit, but he does fairly well. He has struck out a few times (which really frustrates him) but the majority of times he gets a hit! He has really improved on his skills this year! We love watching his games and cheering him on!
Now, KIMBALL, is thrilled he is finally able to play anything his older brother is! He asks everyday whose baseball day it is! He literally counts down the days everyweek! He is playing in the Layton City Rookie League and it is the funniest thing to watch. These boys all want the ball and will tackle each other just to touch the baseball. They are learning where the bases are and the game rules so it's so fun to see their trial and error in learning the rules! Kimball played 1st base his frist game and was tickled that he got to touch the ball everytime! Watching him hit is so fun too! He swings with so much enthusisam and energy! You would think it would equal a homerun with the amount of force behind it, but it usually hits the tee along with the ball. His good friend, Bo Barber, plays on his team. True to Kimball's character - he dresses up in his baseball uniform almost daily!
